Who does Nekhena say she is? Nekhena Evans proclaims herself to be a “first generation entrepreneur standing firmly on the shoulders of Madame C.J. Walker” and indeed her business, New Bein’ Enterprises, has been a pioneer in the natural hair industry. New Bein’ established itself as a industry pioneer in 1993, when Ms. Evans authored, “Hairlocking: Everything You Need To Know, the first published book on the practice of Hairlocking. New Bein’ is the innovator of many other firsts in the industry: Nekhena has created the first collections of custom made Hair Jewelry specifically designed for ethnic hair i.e. locks, braids & twists. New Bein’ held the first Hairlocking - Natural Hair, Health & Beauty conference in NYC ever and held it six times. Nekhena Evans has developed a unique product line designed to meet the special needs of coiled hair textures. It is one of the finest product lines available in the world for coiled hair textures.
Nekhena has been featured in numerous hair magazines, newspaper articles, cable TV and radio programs. She has trained and conducted workshops nationally and internationally, always bringing a message of empowerment to her audiences whatever her topic. It’s no wonder that Nekhena has been called “the Queen of Locks” and “Natural Hair Guru”. Most recently, in March 2005, her business, New Bein’ Enterprises, was a 1st place awardee of the NYC Small Business Awards, sponsored by the Mayor’s Office and the Commission on Women’s Issues. With this acknowledgement and support she will continue her vision of becoming “Madame” and producing exquisite products for the unique beauty needs of African American women and others, via products, education and empowerment, that realizes beauty as transforming from the inside and out.

Who is Nekhena Evans? Most
people would say she is truly “The Queen of Locks”. She is a
pioneer and trailblazer in the Natural Hair Industry. She is an
inspiration and motivator for women of all ages. She speaks
powerfully, passionately and deeply into the souls of her people and
women particularly to cheer them on to embrace their natural God
–given beauty, which comes from within. She is more than a “hair”
person, she resides in the house of beauty and brings that beauty
wherever she goes. She is an innovator, one who continually has
stepped outside of the box, to bring something new into existence
that was not. Within the realm of Natural Hair she has given birth
to many new concepts, through education and empowerment to products
and services. Everything she has created is on a high standard of
excellence and care. All of her endeavors bear witness to this.
